Reinald;
I don't mean to be insulting, but did you remember to change
snapscan.conf to point to the newer version of the firmware file?
Also, depending on your particular installation, the firmware (along
with the .conf file) may need to be in either /usr/local/etc/sane.d or
/etc/sane.d. Because

These recent entries about embedded file version information are
intriguing. Could it be as simple as downloading a more recent

I was hoping to do an actual compare of the contents of the files. If
we find that the files have different instructions in them, that would
be a start.
BTW; is your 2480 working (including transparencies) or not? What
would be most useful would be to compare the firmware from a working

True... that _is_ a possibility. In fact, I couldn't bring myself to
buy a Winblows machine, so I am living with the problem for now.

That's a good idea. I would be willing to upload my firmware for
comparison or would even be willing to compare mine with one from
someone who is having no problems with the color bands and post the
results.
Any takers?

Okay... Thanks, Henning.
Assuming that CVS becomes available in the near future, do you know
the release or date that I should check out?
Thaks again.

After several days of working on this problem, it seems obvious that
the sane package will not support the transparency unit on the Epson
2480. After working for two days with the latest sane-backends
package (1.0.16) and having more problems than with the older version,

Still trying to resolve the issues with the 2480 scanner when using
the transparency unit. Using gimp and the "Acquire Image..." with
xsane also results in messed up preview area. The scans are still not
usable, but getting closer. From Gimp, the number of color bands is
reduced by half. I'm no
What version of code is necessary for this to work? My system has
snapscan-1.0.15 and libusb 0.1.8. When I try to scan a slide or
negative at anything over 300 dpi, it has multiple verticle color
lines through it. The higher the resolution, the more lines there
are.

Hello;
I have been working all weekend on this problem. At the beginning, my new
scanner wasn't even recognized by Fedora. Now, it is recognized but I am
unable to acquire any images. In all cases, the scanner seems to perform a
full scan, but no image appears. In the cases of iscan and xsane,
