I am running hplip-3.17.7 in view of installing sane support on my kde neon
system for a HP colorlaser all-in-one.
I am working my way through the missing dependencies and the last remaining
is "sane-devel"

Hello, I am trying to run a Canon Lide 35 from Xsane on Ubuntu 9.10. The
scanner is recognised, but the dialog complains about an invalid argument
when attempting to preview or scan.
The debug command yields the following report:
[sanei_debug] Setting debug level of genesys to 255.

Xsane on Ubuntu 9.10 does recognise my Canon Lide 35 scanner and is ready to
work, but gets stuck by this message when attempting a preview or scan:
