I can't find out how to tell it to look for the larger image, nor can I
find where Ubuntu has put the scanner or Xsane to see if there's an
adjustment in there.

My HP Scanjet G3110 was working well in Microsoft, but in Xsane 0.997
everything is being scanned with a mid-blue cast.
In black/white it can be corrected with the Colour> Brightness /
Contrast tool.
But in colour it is a pain in the arse and one can only get an
approximation by balancing
