I've tried to install the beta backend for hp5400 in mandrake
and slackware without any success until now.
Although I can see the scanner (twice ???) with
sane-find-scanner:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x1005) at
/dev/usb/scanner0
found USB scanne
I can't find any references about the HP Scanjet 5400c scanner, tried
to put it working without any success. Even after sane-find-scanner
detect it after several tries, xsane refuses to detect it :(
Any one know if the patch for the 3300 will make the 5400 work? tried

with SANE, tried some general steps, but no driver is
instaled...
(I use Mandrake dist. 8.2, and I'm a so called, newbye in the
