Yesterday I downloaded the current snapshot (to solve OS X
compilation errors in 1.0.13) and built it.
I also compiled and installed the latest libusb (0.1.8).
When I try the scanimage command the scanner make some strange noise
=:-/ and then the program hangs... It seems like a problem with Cano

have never used one, but is very similar in design to the 4120 from the
hardware side. the software is a different issue. i have a contact at
fujitsu that might lend me one to write a driver... maybe time i asked.
just wish i had more time...

I tried the TWAIN SANE Interface Version 0.6 and the SANE backends
1.0.13-cvs 2004-03-27.
I tried it first with a SCSI connection and afer that an USB connection.
The interesting thing is that Graphic Converter and Photoshop seem to
recognize Sane but the System Profiler doesn't.
And the scanner do

do not assume that your scanner uses interrupts to process button presses,
even if it has an interrupt endpoint. many scanners use a hardware status
bulk transfer/read combination instead. to find out, try using a usb
sniffer on windows. you may get lucky.

fujitsu 4120. see previous mail. will feed down to business card size, and
is built like a tank. works well with heavy stock like photo prints, and
has very straight paper path. expensive for home use, though, ~550 refurb.

i must concur with garrick, fujitsu makes wonderfully beefy gear, except
for the 4010/4110/scansnap! models, their bottom end 'toy' scanners. these
seem flimsy and slow, and on the whole, cheap.

yes, i have the oem manual, i will send in a separate email. however, it
will not fix the problem, as the usb-specific documentation is about 1
page long, and completely useless. i have spoken with several people at
fujitsu, but they insist there is no other documentation.
so, i tracked it down
Has your organization had any experience with the 4530C? This small monster has
great specs (35-47ppm, 100-sheet large-format ADF, USB 2.0), although its sure
to cost well over two kilobucks even if you found a discount reseller. If the
quality is an extrapolation of what you've found in the 4120C,

Thanks for your response.
Yes the sg driver is loaded. sane-find-scanner reports no scanner is
found whether run as root or as ordinary user.
cat /proc/scsi/scsi reports only the Samsung CD-RW drive attached to the
system.
When scannerdrake searches for a scanner, the scanner makes some noise,
