Hello,
I hate to admit defeat, but I have not been able to get my USB HP 6200C
scanner to show up when I try the sane-find-scanner program.
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices shows nothing.
I am running A PCCHIPS 830 motherboard (SIS 735 chipset I believe)
Redhat 8.0

I don't think it's related to xsane. If you install sane-backends

Hi,
the window parameter block looks ok.
You are scanning with 300 dpi (ok),
the width and height of your scanarea is 30x20mm (a small area
but as far as I know it's allowed. You can try to set a larger
area for example -y 297 -x 210).
You are scanning grayscale. I have a M3097G with an old
ROM-ve
Thanks all for your great help up to now.
Here is the next Debug Output, it seems to be the same.
Oliver, how would I be able to check the firmware ?
This scanner is basically a big piece of iron, I might have
to take it apart. And would I be able to get another
firmware for a scanner from 1994 fo
Abel,
I would be happy to do some testing but unfortunately
my coding skills do not go beyond python, C is rather like klingonian
for me. In the latest sane backend sources (Top of the changelog below)
I could not find the header file sg.h . I would need something like in
file www/xxx replace yyy
David,
can you give me a hint or link where to find those patches
and may be code lines to look for
Thanks Dirk

Dirk,
this is the same issue i had when working with the fi-4220 and fi-4120.
aparently fujitsu changes some of the window bits on different models.
some models don't like have 00 values in certain registers even if the
register isn't used. have a look at roncemers fi-4120/4220 patches.
thank

Hi,
a user reported that
SCANIMAGE.EXE -d hp --mode Color --resolution 150
--brightness 20 --contrast 40 -l15 -t35 -x60 -y105 > tst.pnm
scans the correct section, but
scanimage.exe -d hp -l 15 -t 35 -x 60 -y 105 --mode
Color --resolution 150 --contrast 40 --brightness 20 > tst1.pnm
does not.
