Hi Henning.
Speaking about the preview feature of xsane ... - for color scans
xsane does a scan with gamma=1 and creates a software preview when the
user modifes the gamma value. But for my avision backend the scanned
images are not as light as they are in the xsane preview. Although the

Hi.
Nice! Could you send me the email address of this "Avision software
manager"? Or ask him/her whether it is possible to get a new SCSI Spec
(and maybe also the magic parallel Spec anyone ever saw) from them?
My latest versoin is:

Yes. UMAX germany contacted me that UMAX has decided to support
the SANE development of the Astra 4500 Scanner.
I am in contact with a software manager of avison.

Hi.
Your kernel-modules do not match your kernel. You need !exactly! the
same kernel config as Mandrake (your dist was MD?) used to build the
kernel. OR you do not only install the modules but ALSO install the
kernel module.
But if you do this the first time, it might be much to learn. And

Maybe...As I said before: I try to check it out even if don't

Greetings,
I have already posted a message for my installation scanner problem.
I just want to be more explicit.
I am under mdk 8.2 kernel 2.4.18.
I have followed the instructions of Johan Schoone: recompling the kernel as it
is indicated.
But when i launch lsmod | grep usb the result is
usb-uchi

The mustek backend provides brightness and for some scanners also
contrast, the mustek_usb backen
Hi
thank for your answer.
Here are results of different commands:
lsmod:
Module Size Used byNot tainted
isofs 25792 0 (autoclean)
inflate_fs 19328 0 (autoclean) [isofs]
sb 7744 0

Hi.
This information turned out to be wrong. I looked at the i/o data from
a windows log. The transfered data doesn't look like the normal
Avision SCSI over USB transfers.
I'll remove this text from my homepage.
I heared that Umax/Avision have agreed to work with an Open-Source
programmer. Maybe
