I just found out that I have xmaxima in my $SAGE_LOCAL/bin folder. I am pretty sure no one ordered that. It seems that it will build by default if the configure script finds tk. Actually I had a look at the ebuild in Gentoo and to disable it we pass --with-wish=none and do surgery on the makefile.
