At a previous employer I looked at using rsync to migrate a large number of files
(1,000,000+) from one server to another and after testing, found that it was not
the solution for this application. Although you have not provided your service
level expectations, I'll assume that you are not

Best.com used to be a big ISP shop in these parts, but they are stale since
being picked up by Verio.
Anyway, after some consternation, I found that they are running rsync 1.6.8,
which is incompatible with 2.4.6. This was more confusing than it might

I had the same need, so I wrote a patch for rsync. It turned out to
