The broken ssh-basic test is fixed in the CVS version of rsync, but not in
2.5.6.
It should work in the next release of rsync. You can get the new test
from the rsync CVS server easily via the cvsweb interface:
http://www.samba.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/rsync/testsuite/ssh-basic.test?rev=1.6&con
I'm running 'make check' to run the testsuite, and I did it
this way so the ssh-basic test would run:
# export rsync_enable_ssh_tests=yes
# make check
I did set up ssh so this would run, and here's what I get
for output:
POSIXLY_CORRECT=1 TOOLDIR=`pwd` rsync_bi

enough time to test rsync port... I created a "test release package",

There's the popt-1.7 update (with Dave's sprintf() workaround) at
http://www.catnook.com/patches/rsync-popt-1.7.diff
Perhaps we can apply this after the release as

If Martin isn't able to get my access restored to cvs.samba.org tomorrow,
I'd appreciate it if someone else could upd
