This bug has been stale for a while. In order to dive in and have a go at
working out what is wrong and how to fix it ; is signing up with the samba bug
tracker required?

I just took a look at the patches again and I bet the first one (the
less elegant one) would work for you. You would have to try it on
3.0.7 though since 3.0.8 includes the other patch.
