As expected, I havent done much new coding, instead I've been fixing a few
issues from hurrying up the code in the first weeks. I've just changed the
pairing code to use DMAPConnection instead SoupServer directly. This makes
pairing async and allows us to parse the

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay.

Try some Googling, but there is nothing that should link Emerald with
slowing down Rhythmbox. Some posts suggested to remove xine, but that's
quite old by now and I don't know if it will help.
By the way, I think Emerald is not being developed much today, so that might
be a problem.
Sometimes libdmapsharing picks the wrong mDNS library (this happens in Arch
Linux for instance). Maybe that is the problem.
How did you installed libdmapsharing? If you compiled yourself, you might be
able to change the mDNS library when compiling.

If you are compiling Rhythmbox yourself, you need the development packages
installed for these libraries, such as glib-2.0 is libglib2.0-dev.
However, I would suggest you to install a pre-compiled version, such as one

Hi Stephen,
The patch seems good, not sure if it breaks something else tough (IPv6 for
instance, but the current code is already broken for that).
Can you file a bug report in
