Discussing this here won't make any difference, try asking it in the Ubuntu forums <http://www.ubuntuforums.org/> or in a Ubuntu related mailing list<https://lists.ubuntu.com/>. You might even try Launchpad <https://launchpad.net/>. These people might be able to tell you why Ubuntu made this choice and they could even do something about it.
