people maybe remember that in the days of rh5.x, there was a problem with
shutting the machine down properly. That was solved with the inclusion
of the flag '-p' at the command 'halt' in the file /etc/inittab.
Well, the same problem reappeared when I upgraded my system to rh7.0.

Hi,
I have a problem with my hard disc when I try to upgrade or install an
RPM whose files go in /usr. For many RPMs I can hear a very intence noise
coming from the hd. After the installation, the partition where the /usr lies
(sda5) has some inconsistencies. This is exactly what happened recent

Well, I have modified rc.local so don't worry about it

Hi,
I have a PII rawhide system.
Some days ago a strange problem appeared:
When the system starts in telinit 5 mode all users (including root)
can login from kdm, except one user. In this user's case the kdm prompt
reappers.
So, I thought lets isolate the problem. I did telinit 3. Having logge
