I wanted to let my professional peers know the disappointment I am having

Hi all,
I have done no remote well pump system design. I have a potential client
looking for help driving a remote AC deep well pump with PV. My first
reaction is too say in order to do that, they will need an inverter and
batteries as well as PV and charge controller. But it occurred to me to ask
Hey all!
I am proposing a [20] module, 35˚ tilt up array mounted on a flat roof in
snow country - Central Idaho. Its in town, trees behind & off to the side a
ways.
The SnapnRack design calls for [21] Pieces of 1 ½” x 21’ sched 40 pipe

We did a setup with the Snap N Rack rack on a roof once. We just used
the recommended galvanized SCH 40. Its basically a readily available
product. I would be careful with other types of steel tubing: make sure
it will fit the fittings. We actually retrofitted a Snap N Rack to some

Hi Howie,
There are many options for this equipment now. If the well pump motor is
already installed, it may limit your options. If it hasn't, then there are
a lot of good solar pumps available. Grundfos SQ Flex is solid from our
experience.
There are also drives that can take high voltage sol
It all comes down to how deep the well is, and how much water you need
to pump. For lower head, lower flow rates, just go with the SQF line.
If you need more water, then start looking into the other options.
Just as with off grid homes, you need to carefully define the
parameters: depth to
Thanks Jerry, that is what I would certainly suggest first, but I was just
curious if there is a way to drive an AC pump with just PV before I suggest
pulling the pump.

Hi Howie
Yes ac PV direct is off the shelf these days. But typically with 3phase pumps.
Tons of variables, how about some specifics as to depth, gpd required, gpm
requested, well production, pumped height, location for starters.
