[RE-wrenches] SB6000U Derating Mode

2015-10-21 Thread Dave Tedeyan
Hi All, Is anyone familiar with the wiring in the old Sunny Boy U inverters? We have got a call from someone who has one where the temperature sensor has gone bad, and it is always in derating mode. It derates so much that it can only produce about .1W, even if it is cool out. The inverter is loc

Several years ago, An inverter tech support person claimed that the system voltage would go above the inverter cutoff point and shut down the inverter. How high a voltage is needed to get a generator to motor? At 07:16 PM 10/20/2015, you wrote: I guess that am missing something. I have y

That trends to be the saving grace for most installations, however in the islands, we modify the inverter parameters to accept poor quality power. Our inverters will connect to most decent generators. On Oct 20, 2015 7:16 PM, "Tump" wrote: > I guess that am missing something. I have yet to

Just to clarify;"generator...to latch onto any grid tied inverter"The grid tie inverter is the device that will latch onto a given AC source, not the other way around.Louis. Original Message Subject: Re: [RE-wrenches] Generator backfeeding enphase? From: Tump Dat

I have a customer with a China Diesel 40kW generator that will sync up with 3 Fronius inverters and 17kW of PV's. A few years ago he had to run for a week like this. Each day the inverters would sync up, no problems. Larry Crutcher On Oct 20, 2015, at 4:16 PM, Tump wrote: I guess that am mi

Thanks all for the detailed explanations as to why backfeeding a generator is a potential problem. Tump, I think in general, that is often the case, but I have seen regular grid tie inverters pickup some average generators. The bottom line is do we want to take the risk, even if small, of owning a

Hello Dave,The early SB6000U inverters used a temp. sensing device that was "tacked-on" one of the Power devices conducting pins.If this is the failed part causing the Derating one could remove it(un-solder it or clip it out) find a replacement temp. sensor and solder it in.If you would like to loo

Wrenchers, A customer is having new services put in and wants to prep for solar. Does anyone know of, or have recommendations, on a 200A non fused NEMA disco that they can install so we can easily interconnect on the loadside when we are ready to put the solar in? I thought I had heard somewhere of

I recently replaced a SB1800U with a refurbished model, but Solar Cowboyz did a good job of phone advice first, then bench diagnosis. It turned out to be electrolytic caps leaking onto the board and causing etching. You might get some help there. I found them competent, if not a little slow and dif

HI Adam, If you needs don’t exceed 100 amps, then a solar ready load center is what I’d recommend. This will give you a 40 amp into the main buss. And a 60 amp not on the main buss. 100 amp total. google: solar ready ac load centers
