Hello Dave,
The early SB6000U inverters used a temp. sensing device that was "tacked-on" one of the Power devices conducting pins.
If this is the failed part causing the Derating one could remove it(un-solder it or clip it out) find a replacement temp. sensor and solder it in.
If you would like to look into this in more detail please contact me off-list.
Please provide a photo of the Power section(IGBT's), this will show the temp. sensor, thanks.
I am taking that you have confirmed the Derating condition based on the SB6000 showing this Derating mode on the Display?

Hi All,Is anyone familiar with the wiring in the old Sunny Boy U inverters? We have got a call from someone who has one where the temperature sensor has gone bad, and it is always in derating mode. It derates so much that it can only produce about .1W, even if it is cool out.The inverter is located inside a barn, and has been cleaned. The inverter is also past warranty.Anyone have any wiring diagrams for this kind of inverter? Or any suggestions as to how to bypass the temperature sensor, or change the programming so that it does not derate anymore? Anything would be useful, as the alternative is to just get a whole new inverter.Cheers,Dave--Dave TedeyanProject EngineerTaitem Engineering, PC109 S.
