Hi Kevin,

Hi drake,
It all depends on how you set it up.
With the SI it can be a simple hz shift which causes most GT inverters to
reduce power then cut off. Pretty much a on/off type of charging you are
describing.
When used with a SMA GT inverter and connected in the right way, will taper

Hi Kevin,

AC coupled algorithm.
I read a post on this list claiming that the AC coupled charging of
the SI was just an on / off charge, just on and off like AC coupling
with other brands of inverters. I've also read that it
rned out quite well.

Todd,
Magnum Energy only has three models that provide generator support modes: the
new MSH series. You can program the input current level where the inverter will
turn on and sync with the generator input. This is an excellent feature for
undersize generators. Transfer is fast and transparent.

HI Kevin,
I agree that tech support hasn’t been the been the best with OB, I do think its
getting better.
As to the charger issues. The radian has a generator mode that as long as its
within voltage limits will use
box, and ultimately the end
product turned out quite well.

Kirk, I agree with Peter. I have installed several Radians with good luck. I
installed one SI and it worked ok but was more expensive and very time
consuming to install. Did one XW and would never do it again. Never has
worked right.

Had Radian failures and typical issues contacting Outback tech support in a
reasonable amount of time. (ended up replacing boards on site, just like FX

Hi Kirk,
Schneider Conext XW is 120 or 120/240 with dual input
SMA SI 120v but has a dual input relay system you can use.
These are the only other two I know of that will sell from the battery inverter.

My 2 centavos. Stick with them. I prefer their approach over SMA.
