They do have a couple suggested replacements.

termination. AC & DC. BEFORE energizing them! One megger lead on the
conductor, the other on the raceway or ground-wire. Megger @ 1kV. Must be
greater than 250 Megohms to pass
I haven't used a meggar since I stopped designing traffic signal systems. No
ill affects so far ( 20 years now )
