Installing PV/inverters to a generator is a common practice.
One must make sure you don’t ever have more PV/inverter than load to prevent
either generator damage or shut down.
I worked on a big project that did actually shut the generator down, it tried
to run backwards as the PV power exceede
My real world input is I use the XW for anything hard to start.
XW is a single 6.8KW low frequency design that can supply 12KW for a
minute. Radian is (2) 4KW inverters and I have found that XW is the best
for this. Stacking often is not the answer for difficult loads. My

Well, here at the Oasis we have a battery-based grid-tie system. My entire
home/office runs through the inverter, it's a single Radian, older 8048 that
was installed around 2014. In 2016 I had to have a new well drilled (our water
table's dropping here in the valley), and had to go from 186 ft
Not kidding, but not in reference of wildfires either. Installing inverters
directly connected to the gennys is in the past lead to smoke.

In case you are near me and not kidding Jerry, I see smoke alot of it!
For others during fire season this is the tool I use for finding the fire
source. Much faster than anything else I have tried. The upper right of the
display shows a red area that is the fire.

Go to https://www.chiliconpower.com/support-materials
And check out the AC Coupling guide. They say clearly that you can do this
with their product. That took me by surprise.

Explain more please. We try to never use generators out this way, but
with fire season I am always interested for some of my clients.

Has anyone tried to AC couple these microinverters with a generator output
to reduce fuel consumption? They claim it can be done with their
"volt-watt" mode. I'm skeptical but interested nonetheless.
