William,
Congratulations on an elegant solution and thanks for following up.
It's always of great interest to hear how these things work out.
I know some AHJs can be obstructive or difficult to work with, but IMHO
the vast majority are more than willing to work with you, to arrive at a

Mark,
The readily accessible disconnect at the inverter is all that is necessary
according to the code. There may be practical reasons for additional
disconnects, but if the system has no combiner box, or the combiner is at
the inverter, only the disconnect at the inverter is required.

Marco,
My only comment is the 3 phase units are a long lead time item. Fronius
expects to catch up to demand by end of Q1 2010.

I was once told that the best collector used black chrome plated on bright nickel.
This combination absorbs heat well, with the advantage of not letting the heat back out.
Sort of a thermal "diode" of sorts.
I have no data, but I believe "good" collectors radiate less than they collect.

If it were me, I'd put a disconnect prior to entry to the building. How
are you going to service the connections without a disconnecting means?

Hi there gang,
Just to say that IMHO solar thermal panels will radiate quite a bit less
than they collect, someone must have some data on this ??

It doesn't sound like your crawl-space run is 'readily accessible' either.
Could you put a DC disconnect on the exterior before you go inside?

I'd be interested in including similar PE fee language in my proposals. If
you'd send that I would appreciate it.
I have only experienced a similar requirement once. In 2006 I was ordered to
include a PE report, to local bldg. code enforcement, on a fairly typical
residential PV install
Hello there,
Due to a lot of concrete and asphalt, we are forced to run our PV source
circuits in through one exterior wall, through a crawl space and out through
the opposite exterior wall to our inverter and disconnect. We will be using
EMT and will not be making any stops while inside the bui

In terms of technique, the easiest way to accomplish this is to plumb a
valve in parallel with the systems' check valve, and have the customer open
it when nighttime diversion is necessary (middle of summer, customer on
