Hi Max,
We¹ve done one, have one in the shop ready to go, and another on contract.
Great solution for future expansion and clean installation. All mods are in
parallel, but installation (with adapter cord) is end to end. No main
inverter, no DC disconnect, no service or ³grouped² AC disconnect requ
You don't screw the roofing pans down through the pan, they are all held
down with some kind of clip system; there are no roof penetrations, as
the hold down screws are under the roofing.

Well guess I wasn't complete in my definition of a site survey. I also inspect
the roof and rafter structure, the existing electrical service condition, do
the shade analysis, and create a design and issue a proposal. That's the real
goal to offer an installed cost. It's all included in the pric
For design reasons we were forced to use Unirac SunFrame rail which
required some extra effort and tight tolerances in mounting the
inverters to it. If at all possible use a SolarMount-type rail. This
is what the inverters were designed for.
We've used enphase with sunframe too. What we
I'm not talking about seam clamps (i.e. S5!), but rather the problem
of screwing or bolting through the roof causing problems with thermal
expansion. Arguably, clamping to the seams would cause less thermal
expansion problems, since screwing through a panel in the middle of
the roof could c

Max,
We recently finished a small installation (2.4kW) using the Enphase
micro-inverters and have been fairly pleased with them.
The most notable thing about Enphase was their excellent tech support. I
always got prompt attention from knowledgeable people in this country. This
is in stark contras
I've been asked to evaluate a set of plans that came accross the counter of a
local municipality recently. It was the microinverter system by Enphase. I've
seen this product, but this is the first actual installation I'm exposed to.
Has anyone installed these?

Hello Jim,
If I understand correctly, you charge a consultant fee to teach a client about
site selection and other subjects. You also provide information about your
product/service to a prospect as part of the sales process.
Some of the reasons why opinions differ about charging a site survey f

Troy,
It is my current understanding that some manufacturers of metal roofing
will not warranty their products if clamps are used on the standing
seams. The reason given is that clamping the seams prevents the normal
movement of the roofing during expansion and contraction. I can't say

I assume that every Site Survey must include a basic education on the
fundamentals of PV. This includes mythbusting and re-education. It helps that
most clients are genuinely interested in learning more before they deci

Since we do relatively few grid-tied battery back-up systems (4 a year), I
have no direct knowledge of only Outback and now Xantrex products. Is anyone
willing to offer a comparison of the Apollo and MidNight Classic (I know
it's only in beta right now)?
Also, is there any fundamental problems
