I was discussing this off-line with Ron (Copied below). I cc'd here but
I didn't quite "have it right" yet for this new list site,
so this is also a test...
He's using HIT 195 modules which, ~might~ just turn out to be ~700
Watt heating elements. I've never tried
applying this much power
Wrenches, here's a followup question and answer about the new Enphase
inverters:

Hi Ron,
While you might put this into the same category as the RainX; I would
consider using some type of glycol mix perhaps delivered by a Dole style
(temperature sensing) valve. Glycol is what the transport aircraft community
uses before launching an aircraft into current ice conditions. The Dol

Hi Wrenches,
I know this is a nice cool subject for these (hopefully) sun filled
days. I am working on a telecom system that has some issues with ice
accumulation on the panels that essentially shut the system down mid
winter. Wondering if anyone has suggestions to remedy the ice
buildup.
Fronius is saying that their IG grid tie inverters are unlikely to synch
with an Outback for AC coupling. Has anyone tried this combination?

Geoff,
It's Schneider Electric that owns Square D, and they recently bought
Xantrex. I have heard little more about this.
I think that the Xantrex 250 inverter is a product of Trace Technologies in
Livermore CA, which is a separate division than Xantrex in Everett WA, and
has its own tech support

brought us in to provide solar as part of a package for one of their Fortune

HI Todd and all,
What is the service like from Square D ( or the other companies with
Sq D)
As they now own Xantrex, is this going to help?

I should add a few more points.
(1) Everything that I have said pertains to phone-in, post-sales technical
support.
(2) I generally find the Xantrex products to be of high quality (with one
well-known exception).
