Hillborne, I built them up very very nearly identically and ride both regularly.

I find the specification of the 114-link chain being 8 links too short with a
26-40-tooth crankset and a 36-tooth max cog in the rear comforting. If I were
to build up a Cheviot (currently considered in the 2016 or 2017 plan) a
114-link chain should be fine; I'd have a 35-or-36-tooth single chai

I've used Tektro drop-bar linear-pull-compatible levers with my Motolites with
no problem. I've been led to believe that my levers are actually just sort of
"generic" Cane Creek Drop-V levers. That could be wrong. But in any case the
Tektro levers worked fine. (There's nothing like a Paul Love L
+1 for the Albatross bar. I have both the CrMo and the Al. On mine, the
widths are different (they are from a different era, perhaps not even
(gasp!) from RBW). Al is either 54cm or 55cm and CrMo is 56cm. Switching
directly from one to the other, I can tell the width difference. But I
