I find the specification of the 114-link chain being 8 links too short with a 
26-40-tooth crankset and a 36-tooth max cog in the rear comforting. If I were 
to build up a Cheviot (currently considered in the 2016 or 2017 plan) a 
114-link chain should be fine; I'd have a 35-or-36-tooth single chainring up 
front and a 11-32 freewheel in back.

I had been wondering how that would work.
