The bag I have ( Loyal Designs) is fairly tall and seems unstable without a
decaleur. I will probably use the p clip attachment method for the bottom
from Peter Weigle. I'm leaning toward the Berthoud design as metal
fabrication skills and equipment are somewhat limited. While a simple

hmmm, for my body shape the Ibex jerseys fit the best of all wool jerseys
I've tried. They run trim in the waist area so if you're a little *Large* in
that area then I'd look elsewhere. I think they fit the most like
conventional (synthetic) jerseys of all I've tried.

Will those fatties fit on the Bleriot? The Riv chart shows a max of 41mm in
tire width.

I have ridden mountain bikes from inception, circa 1983. I rode my road
bike off road in the late '70's before the MTB came to be on the national
level but there just weren't the 700c tires available to do more technical
terrain. So I switched and rode MTB's almost exclusively.

I used one of the Fisher designed Fox front shocks with a 51mm offset. In
combination with a 72d head angle on the Mary it steered very crisply in
singletrack. It helps toe overlap too but as mine was an large frame it
wouldn't have been a problem. The lower trail works amazingly well off road.
I t will be a surprise. Hint, I met him at SD bike show.
It also has a curved top tube. and just one bi-lam lug at seat tube/ top
tube. The rest is fillet brazed.

Patrick, as in all bikes, geometry is a big factor is ride quality,
manuverability, and quickness. 29ers are no exception.
By accident I ended up with a steep head angle and long rake fork on my 1st
29er. I felt that it handled just as quick as any of the 10+ 26ers I've
rode since the early '8

Just finished looking at your trip photos... there were some beautiful
sections and some scary. dry desolate sections.
Some day I'm going to get up there and do some tours. Maybe next summer.

The top tube on the Homer is not level BTW, there is a slight slope to it.
The Homer uses heat treated tubing, so slightly better strength wise. Not
that it makes much difference.
On the Sam you can get the double top tube, if that's your thang!

My worst experience with goatheads was on a dirt road that I rarely take
near a water purification plant. I had at least 20 on each tire. I was
running 38mm marathon racers. I replaced the rear tube after 30 min. of
extractions. The front I left alone and managed to ride the final 3 miles

The 756 model has cro-mo axles, the later models switched to aluminum axles
to save weight. Due to the lower mechanical properties of aluminum they
had to make the axle larger in diameter which resulted in making the ball
bearings smaller to fit inside the hub body. Now whether this decreases t
he makes it look so easy. He's got the skills too.
