I collect and save the shower caps found in hotel rooms while travelling.
I keep a couple in my panniers in the case of wet weather, and I like to
have an extra to share with my under-prepared buddy.

for item #1, just get yourself a 50lb limit luggage scale with a big hook on it.
Given the recent trend by the airlines to charge for over-weight bags, lots of
folks are weighing their baggage before leaving for the airport... hence the
availablity
of a good selection of cheap-and-ch

hetres and honjo fenders. My bike is silent.
It only speaks momentarily when I bear down hard on the pedals because I
shifted too late.

I've got a Dahon MuXL. More cushy on Big Apples than my Wilbury on GB Hetres.
Steering feels twitchy for the first 100-200m then my muscle-memory adapts.
