Isn't "Sally Hanson" the name of that secret surpise new bike that Rivendell is

Wherefore is it "Rivendale" to some? I just don't get it. Why is this so common?
OK, gotta get outside and enjoy July 4th.

I have a repainted Atlantis in the mail right now, and I've had those holes
added to the crown. I have some hopes for using the R14 on the front:

Amazing bike. Makes me want to pack some gear and ride for a week.
Thanks for the Gallery, Jim.

Rivendell Brand V bar tube. Velcro One-wrap attachment of the D rings to the
horizontal brake hoods. I have the Baggins bar tube attached this way to
moustache bars, and it works very well. The Baggins is no longer made, but the

I love the ride of the QB, but I like gears and never wanted to get off the
bike to shift. So I bought my QB with schemes of somehow making it a shifter.
Right now, it's a 3 speed shifted at the crank (24-36-46) with a front
derailleur and only one cog in the back. (I use a friction bar-end shi
How could one go for a ride and not pack a picnic?

My Atlantis is 64 cm and has a 2.5 degree TT slope.
My Hillborne is 60 cm and has a 6 degree TT slope.
My AHH is 65 cm and has a 1.5 degree TT slope.
The expanded frame geometry (with its 6 degree TT slope) was meant to allow
fewer sizes to fit more people. A 60 cm Hillborne fits me well, whi
Angle = (# of degrees)*(3.14) divided by 180
Head tube height increase = (60 cm)(1)(3.14)/180 = approximately 1 cm
Anybody want to do the prediction of how TT slope increases the effective TT
length?

Good timing with this post! We must have been channeling this article in the 3-speed River and Sea ride today. (See previous postings.) We did 35 miles in about 5.5 hours!

I've recently picked up packages right at the closest shipping location to me.
I called ahead to arrange it when it was too difficult to catch the truck at my
house. I've never tried sending from the shipping location.

My understanding is that if you are buying new parts, then LX is it.
Shimano should come out with an LX crank with 24-36-46 chainrings and complete
LX's journey toward its place as THE touring group.
