I've never ridden the 650b version since my Stag fits bigger tires, but I know
a few folks who run them on conversions. The only difference between the Pana
brand and the Somas is the hypertex casing (which is supposed to be more
compliant than PT, although a I can't really feel any difference).

FYI, at least some of the Motels 6 will kick you out and cancel your

Depending on what size you need the SM is really 2 different bikes. The 650b
(47-57cm) is more of a nimble sport touring bike, while the 700c version is
quite a bit beefier and made to take more weight. Basically a Sam with shorter
reach brakes.

One day, at a stop light, a roadie glanced over at my Sam and said "That's
a classic." I suspect he wasn't familiar with the bike and just figured it

Yep! Rivendell people are great. I wouldn't be surprised if a business
scholar (or business journalist) stopped by to study them and learn how

Those LED valve caps are great -- BUT the batteries inside them last only
about three or four hours. At least mine did. I stumbled across them on
eBay, bought them, liked them, and then on my second or third ride, noticed
they weren't working. Inquired with seller. Seller told me it's normal for
401 - 500 of 589 matches
