As far as compared to the rest of Texas' large cities it's pretty
awesome for cycling but not quite as good as my hometown Corvallis,
Oregon. Of course the countryside is great here too, there's a
bazillion lightly traveled but nicely paved country roads all over the
state. There are active rand

My stable includes many more than 2 but only one of them gets taken to
town and locked up for long periods of time, my early 80s Nishiki.
Now, I have taken my Rivendell to UTexas football games but I lock it
up at a friend's tailgate and they always have someone around to make
sure that the LCD T
Just to add my $0.02, I run the Grand Bois Cypress on my Riv and I
only get about 1K on each rear tire. Failure mode seems to be a large
bulge in the tire that eventually contacts the brake bridge. Despite
this, I love these tires!
I do not rotate tires, I just replace the bad one.

I vote yes on this color as well.
But then again orange is my favorite color :-)
Hate blue and can't understand RBW's seeming obsession with it.

Yea, really! That's a very strong ride.
My best time for a 400K is 18 hours.

Practice, desire and persistence.
The biggest key is learning how to fuel yourself for consistent
performace over long periods of time. At least it was for me.

That's Jeff Newberry, he rides a Heron but has a custom Riv on order.

Oh and I live in Austin and ride a custom Riv.

The deal is that both loads and yields are way down for all airlines,
so they're just trying to get as many butts into the seats as they
can.
What is QF's bicycle policy like?

Personally, I've got no problems with this, I am so tired of "people
bicycling badly"!! They give all of us a bad name!

There are other carbon-fiber spoked wheels out there that have been
performing well for years. This particular Mavic rim is just a bad design
and prone to failures. But then again, so are the Ksyriums for that matter,
which are metal rims with metal spokes. I've seen enough of them taco'ed to

Even not counting for the nuts, tri geeks are the worst riders on the

Why didn't you just lend the other riders your Spot and then have them
mail it back at the end. I mean now that you got me all hooked on
your trip blog and all. ;-)
Anyways, great ride, great stories. I too rode my Rivendell along the
stretch from Gunnison to Dolores via Telluride and it was m

I rode them on a 600K and would not do so again. The rolling
resistance was noticeably higher than the Grand Bois I have previously

I had multiple excursions over 50 mph on my Riv at the Bike Tour of
Colorado in 2006, going downhill. You probably won't be able to keep
up with your friends going uphill, but you can bomb past them going
downhill ;-)
