I have a first or second-run green Quickbeam that has been my main ride for
the last 15 years. I stopped commuting to work in 2020 and sort of got out
of the habit of riding for fun, but I've recently decided I want to get
back into it.
I've had the frame repainted twice already, and it is in
, but with a longer wheelbase,
for a smoother ride.

Thanks!

possible that once I get bars that are better placed, I may also find I can

Thanks, John. Will try this. I am going to replace the bearings either way as
part of a full refresh of the bike. First I have to saw off the stem and
dissolve the remainder, so I can get the fork off the bike.

thanks, Patrick! lots to think about. I am tempted by a new frame, though I
am leaning toward trying to get the QB working the way it once did. If not,
then I'll have no excuse!

Amazing! Harris was one of my local bike shops (RIP), and when I first got into
both fixed-gear and Rivendell bikes, I bugged Sheldon for advice many times.
I’m so glad his web pages are still extant.

RBWers -
I've had an issue with my Quickbeam for ages now where the front brakes
squeal at high rpms (Tektro Oryx/Kool Stop pads). I have replaced the pads a
few times, and toed them in, and no matter what, the squeal returns after a
brief respite. The KoolStops recommend installing the pads square
Thanks all. I cleaned the rims with alcohol, and used the matchbook toe in
method, rather than the rubber band one. Rode 10mi this morning,
squeallessly. Hopefully that will last.

Anyone know what the stock QB chain width is (for the original green model,
if it has changed)? I have been running 1/8", but it's a little slippy, and
I'm wondering if narrower will be better.

I have 35mm tires on my green QB that need replacing. I'm thinking about
ditching the fenders and going AWAP. Anyone know whether 40mm will fit? It
certainly looks like I have at least 5mm to spare.
Thanks

Hey RBWers -
I have a 56cm green qucikbeam frame/fork/headset that I am considering
selling. I'm riding it now, and love it, but I think it is just a little
small for me, and it is time to get a larger framed bike.
I know that people are often in search of used Quickbeams here, so I'd like

That’s probably going to be my backup. I do prefer to scan the list in my email

I honestly do not see how you join the list without going into the Google
