In Grant's Thanksgiving day post, he included a photo and short
description of a new brake lever with a downtube shifter boss. This
really intrigued me and I did a very little googling about it and came
back with a few points of interest:

yes, definitley 'over the top'. :-)
If I had some sort of air-brush to paint the lug other than with a rattle
can I might do it. In person it blends well with the tree and doesn't
really get seen unless you're looking.

Unless the ergonomics is superior to shifters mounted on Kelly Take-
off's (and I have no way of knowing since I haven't used either), then
Kelly Take-offs are definitely better value.

After a recent eye exam, I ordered a pair of Oakleys with script
lenses, and thought I'd finally be able to read a cue sheet for
example. However they called and said my script was over 2.00 which is
the limit for the Oakleys, even the inserts that go behind the

I have a pair of Rudy Projects, and they take an insert. My lenses
are trifocals, and I'm pretty sure the reading correction is in the
2.00 range. I love them. I have three different outer lenses in
orange, transitional, and green polarized so I can ride in any light.
Use them in all four season
...but for those that don't run stuff like that up front, they look fun to
try. I run Tektro R200A brakelevers on a couple bikes, so I could try them
out without even wrapping the bars.

application jammed into my brake levers so I can shift sideways, which doesn't

urban bike. Aside from the potential riders who would buy their first Riv
