The 26” wheel was used to achieve better geometry in smaller size bikes. It is
neutral steering and corners like it’s on rails. Default tire is 32 and takes

will not pass the brake shoes for removal without letting
I would give my feelings on my 700c Ram but don’t know how different an animal
a 26” wheel Ram is.
Just from looking, there are massive geo frame diffs.
Look at the HT discussed earlier. Look at how far back the rear wheel/tire is
from the ST on the 52. Looks almost like a longboard bike.

Keith, the AHH is going to be great and have lotsa room for fat 650b tires.
Since you're local you might as well go ride both!

Whoops, you are talking about a Ram, not an Atlantis; scratch the Rat Trap
Pass. But underline again the Elk Pass. On a 23 mm rim it ought to max out
at 30 mm. But the ride quality is so good that, IMO, you don't need
anything fatter for pavement or firm dirt or gravel (and see BQ photos of

Joe,
That's exactly the way I'm thinking about it. It feels like if I don't buy
it, I don't know when I'll have another chance to own one. I am rather
surprised to see that it likely won't take a tire wider than 33 mm. I
wonder how different it would feel from a new, 650B A. Homer Hilsen? That

Compass, the featherweight 29 mm* Elk Pass to the 50 mm Rat Trap Pass, and
I think Compass reformulated its mid-width ~38 mm tire in that diameter
too, so perhaps it's now of the same supple quality as the 2 others.

Keith: I think the way to look at this is from a 'can't get em anymore'
perspective. If you were interested in a new Riv it would make sense to go
strictly on need in the stable, but for something as rare as a 26-inch-wheel
Ram, you gotta look at the chances you'll ever stumble on one again.

I ride 56/57cm frames and have no reservations about 26" wheels, but my bike
runs ~50mm wide tires. The Ram you're looking at would only take 33mm according
to the geo sheet. You might gain more by

The craigslist post says the frame size is 54 cm. Is that not correct? I
have a 79 cm PBH, I would assume the 52 cm size would be better for me than
a 54 cm. I don't need another bike, but I have been looking at this one,
it's pretty sweet.
