To me, still one of the prettiest lug design ever. It's fancy and playful,
yet tasteful.
As to timeline, all the early Rivendells used them. Mine was built in early
1999, and was one of the first to use different lugs, with a mix of windows
and curls.

Richard Sachs posted a short little description today of how the original
Rivendell lugs came into being. Turns out Grant commissioned them while he
was still at Bridgestone, but Bridgestone USA closed before they were used:
