That's also a great op! Should also work with old Shimano DX 7-sp thumbies. My set work great with 8-sp cassette's and the stamped clamp can be opened enough to fit drops. But then stem shifters would work just as well. Was tinkering with some last night. Swapped the right shifter (Positron!) for

I run Paul thumbies with 8 speed shimano barcons, and love them! I use interrupter brake levers and it makes for a very comfy setup. The shifters are protected from falls and easily accessed. Most of the time I am riding on the tops of the bars anyway, and I don't have to release the bars to shift

I used Riv Silvers as bar enders for a while but became tired of them jamming me in the upper thigh and seeing them hit my top tube too. I switched them to the down tube and that is where they shine in my opinion. Being on the down tube discourages excessive and obsessive shiftiness plus they are

I have to dissent, my hands get numb on brevets regardless of shifter type, brifter or barcon. What I have found that I do prefer is (gasp) anatomic bars. Since I am very tall, I ride in the drops a lot when it's windy and that is a sure reciepe on the Nitto Noodles for numb hands. I don't have

I think the silver and shimano shifters are the same length - it's an optical illusion. I like Shimano because the little rubbery cover over the lever feels good in-hand and is less pointy when I jam my leg into it when I hop off the saddle carelessly. Also, the indexed option is handy. Silvers l
