650B is great for some folks, not so for others. My experience was
the latter. As of last year, have also gone onto wider tires on all
my bikes. The skinniest are on the Sam Hillborne and are 40mm
Marathon Supremes. My other bikes have 50 and 60mm wide tires. None
of the tires are Pari Moto qu
Oddly, I think 650b makes even *more* sense for big guys. I'm 6'2" and 210 lbs,
and I recently chose to seek out a 650b bike for my first new-to-me bicycle in
18 years. Based on what I'd read, from Grant and Jan Heine, I reasoned I could
get a nicer, more comfortable ride with fatter tires. I lo
I built up 3 sets of 650B wheels, and being 6'1", 225 I have a little
big-man experience with them. I rode a 650B Kogswell P/R for a
relatively short while (1 year), and I also converted a Salsa Ala
Carte to 650B and rode it that way for about 6 months, including a
short offroad stint with Pacenti

I'm 6' 1" and tend to be around 200 pounds. I ride a 63 cm frame
designed around 650b/42mm. I am a die-hard fan of 650b but I have to
say that I cannot see any reason for converting to 650b except for the
desire to use very wide tires, hopefully without toe overlap. The
conversions I have seen usua
My biggest problem has been too many options/free time (on vacation).
i have a front and rear hub sitting here waiting to be built up so i'm
thinking, well why not buy so dyads rather than the salsa cross 700c?
@Jim,
thanks for the advice. I've definitely been reading on the 650b site

I recently converted a 63cm bike and have been loving it. I commute
over rough and smooth city roads and take it out on purely rec. mixter
rides. Using the CdeVs. Suddenly hopping curbs is okay. I had the bug
you seem to have - it's a bit of $ and tinkering time, but has been

Not to be a wet blanket but I did a conversion of an old road racing
bike so I could use fatter tires. Many people who rode it liked it.
I'm glad I tried it, but I never really liked it. As a result I got a

This falls into the "You don't know until you try" category. After
you get the wheels, you'll either commit to having them on, or love
'em so much that you'll get a new bike like William mentioned. Or I
guess you could hate 'em and sell them, but that's less likely :-)

I did a conversion on my road bike, and loved the road feel, but I did
have a drop issue that made it way easier to scrape pedals. I had
planned on running 650x38B but the Pari motos rubbed the insides of my
fork crown. So I had to go with Maxy Fasty's and those dropped me
lower than I'd wanted.
