Regarding the soapy water trick (of which I am all too familiar with a
particularly difficult pair of old 26" Sun rims), just be sure not to use
so much that you drain into the interior of the rim.
It ends up wrecking the rim strip adhesive (at least Velox, anyway) and the
tape shifts around w
Either go tubeless or just put sealant in the tubes. I worry about enough
things in my life, getting a flat isn't one of them.

Soapy water and very hi pressure worked very well.

Michael,
I'm looking forward to trying your mechanic's soapy water trick when school's
out. How did it work out for you? I'm curious because the last time I mounted
my Barlow Pass tires on my Synergies I got to "enjoy" some extra quality time
with the bike stand before getting them right. Lo
After experiencing problems with another brand on the 650b Synergy rims I
tried the Hutchinson brand bought through Compass. The Hutchinson mounted
easily, roll very well, are very comfortable and I am very pleased.

BQ says that lots of rim wells are too deep, resulting in the tire bead not
being able to ride up the sidewall of the rim and sit in place at the clincher
part.
It is reported that a slipperier rim tape like stans helps, too, so the bead
doesnt get hung up in son a grippier more frictiony tape
I think I may have gotten to success. I stopped by my favorite
mechanic and chatted about it. He immediately knew what the problem was
and said it has become common place with rims designed for tubeless tires.
Standard clinchers slip too low at the bottom. He suggested, after making

Older versiobs of the Synergies were reported to be worse than the newer
versions. Not sure how old yours are. Did you try the double rim tape yet?

These are not brand new tires or wheels. I bought them with a new set of
wheels, if memory is good, a few years ago from someone on this list
(perhaps the guy who owns a shop in Minneapolis?) and they arrived with
pari moto tires. All was good. Last year, I decided to replace the Natty

Michael,
The first mount on Synergies is the toughest. They seat much easier after that
in my experience. No crying after the first time.
But even with Synergies I had no problem pulling off and putting on tires. It
was just the bead seating that was tough.
But I found that as long as they were
I find folding tires are the most difficult to mount and bead up the first
time. They're easier to remount once they've been stretched into shape.
However, I have been caught swearing and thumb-wrestling my Lierre tire back
into place on a Zac19 rim. More than once.
Synergy rims haven't been q

My experience exactly with 38mm Loup Loup Pass tires on Synergy rims!
Doubled the rim tape, used baby powder and it was still a struggle. I fared
better mounting 32mm Stampede Pass on 700c Mavic Open Sports.

I use a double layer of Velox tape, and I dab a little liquid soap on the
tire beads when installing supple tires.
This combination makes mounting Pari-Motos to Synergy or ZAC19 rims
approximately 57%* easier.
They're still tricky, though. I air them up to ~15-20 psi and then try to
"lift" any l

I highly recommend them. Get the 2015 or more recent versions. Not the older

I added some hockey tape to the synergy rims on my saluki. Still not perfectly
easy, but much better.

I have a couple 650B Synergy wheelsets remaining. I experienced some
improvement in getting tires to run straight by building up the rim tape.
I have a ton (OK, actually only about 50 pounds) of gaffer tape which is
basically identical to rim tape. I go three or four layers thick, and
