Thanks, Sumehra!
My wife's Betty isn't nearly as amazing as your custom, but both she
and I are extremely pleased with the custom paint results. And it
looks much, much better than our poor quality shots would indicate.

I'm still pretty new to this group, so I hope that this link will

I agree; when you're fortunate enough to get a really special bike
like a Riv, it's nice to be able to personalize it and make it a
little unique. But, yours is a

out from the fork crown area. It's symmetrical, and discrete :) But
if I get a front rack, then, obviously, I'll put the light on the rack
itself.

Ness,
Can't wait! The panniers are made of this material called Pandan.
They are made by a company called Detours, and the model is "Deschu."
Here's a link to the manufacturer's website.

I found them for a steal on ebay (2 for $45).

Sumehra,
When I get my BF I'll definitely post pics of both bikes. The last
photo with the wicker panniers is my favorite. The baskets tie in all
the aesthetic details on your bike! Are they custom too? I've never
seen any panniers like those. Where did you get them?

Hi Leslie,
Thank you!
You pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of major aesthetic
differences. I did make a special request to ensure the mid-stays
were curved, like the Glorius. One minor thing is there is no graphic/
decal/panel on the seat tube (which is on both BFs and customs).

Oh, I noticed the hub but not the light. Just seemed like you were riding
around in the dark there, but I suppose the light was being thrown out of
frame. Nice setup.

Hi Ness,
Thank you :) I would love to see photos of your bike, and the BF. I
contemplated doing the same with a BF instead of going the custom
route, but I was in-between sizes, and didn't want to compromise on
fit. Also, the lugs pushed me towards the custom route as well.

Thanks -- I'd love to see your wifes BF! I think I have seen the
Cream + Light blue on Riv's site. It's always nice to do something to
make it unlike any other bike.

Matt,
Thanks for the tips / kind words.
Now that I look back at the photos of the bike mounted on a bus, you
may be right. My other (non-riv) bike has the Wald Medium basket zip-
tied to a rear rack, and it has proven to be invaluable on rides with
friends. "Hey, want to go to this party at ___'

Beautiful bike! I'm flipping between the Betty Foy pics and your
pics, I see the fancier lugs, the couplers, the Joe Bell paint job...
I also noticed that the midstays (between the seatstays and the
chainstays) have a graceful arch to them); what other differences are
there that you have noticed

Your bike is a stunner! It is interesting that Rivendell let's a bike
like that go out the door without pasting photos all over the website
and promoting it. Humble, indeed!!

Rear rack and fold out wire pannier baskets or cloth grocery
panniers...IMHO Absolutely beautiful bicycle. A custom rack
painted to match might be equally fancy as well as the Honjo fenders
but they can be easily dented on a "transpo bike".

I think it will fit on the bus rack just fine. That is, a Nitto
Mark's Rack with a Wald Medium basket zip-tied to it will not get in
the way.The medium basket is big enough to hold a grocery bag, and
if you use a bungee net, it can handle an over-stuffed grocery
bag. This is what I use t
Thanks, Minh!
I have held back on putting on a front rack, because I plan on
occasionally placing it on a bus rack. I think a small rack +
optional ziptied basked would work well. However, I did not like how
the front end swayed from one side no the other in general when I had
the front basket.
Haha ... no worries. I really like your Rene Herse too :)
Thanks to everyone else, who chimed in, for their kind words.
Hopefully I'll send some updates as I improve the cargo situation this
weekend.

Wow, gorgeous custom Riv mixte! The special work done on your S&S

I agree with Mi
Wow, that is a great looking mixte, for the front rack, if you really
plan on using it that way, get a nitto mini front and tie the basket
to that, or get a pletscher, or a wald woody goody. i'd love to hear
the backstory on this bike, what you plan to use it for, the ss
couplers are intriguing :)
Whoops! I answered the wrong thread. I blush for shame. No, not trying
to horn in on someone else's praises.

Thanks, Brett.
The bike actually has a SON dynamo hub on the front wheel that powers
a Supernova E3 front light. This light is currently mounted to the
fork crown, but I have been advised to remove that mount and put on a
front rack.
The rear light (a SpookLight), is powered by battery (and rech
