You should have no problem if you reverse the B-screw on any Non-Shadow Shimano rear derailer. Check out how I did it on my Bombadil with a rear XT derailer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/orthie251/4168792436/ René -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW

Mitch: Shimano is usually conservative with their ratings so if this unit is rated to 34, there's a good chance it'll handle 36. On their website, Rivendell recenlty mentioned they using that 12-36 9 speed a lot. You may want to consult them on what RD they use but I doubt it's anything special.

I am poised to place order with Chainreaction for http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15113 They also have a Shimano Deore Cassette 9 Speed HG61 12-36T cassette that I'd considered but the LX derailer only supports up to 34T. Will the 36T work with the LX or would it be worthwh

Mitch: Since the Atlantis is a touring bike, 8 speed is plenty IMHO. I'd go with the shifters you have & the Harris custom 13-34. Never had a 9 speed but as more parts get stuffed into a space, things get more finicky. Finicky is not desireable when touring. On the BB question, either 110 or 1

Thanks all. I think I'll go for the LX Kris linked to. The next question is bar end shifters. I have in hand a set of Suntour power ratchets and a near new set of Dura-ace 8spd indexed (CL $30). I'm wondering if I should spring for a pair of 9sp Dura-ace bar ends ($70) from Chain reaction at the s

hey mitch, when I ordered my Atlantis frame in 2007, i also ordered a 107 bb per a Riv employee's suggestion. with the sugino xd2 crank the small 24 ring was way too close to the chainstay. i called Riv, talked to another employee, and he recommended a 110-113mm spindle for the sugino xd2.

My Atlantis is from early 03. Perhaps there was a change since then that allows a 107 mm BB? Calling Riv direct was the right thing. The website listing of the 107 has been a subject of discussion here more than once and, IIRC, no consensus. dougP On Feb 18, 5:17 pm, Mitch Browne wrote: > Dou

Agreed...save your money and get something like this LX; http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15113 XTR components work well and are light. My wife uses XTR on her mtb and I use X.0 on mine. However, if I wanted a long lasting, good looking RD for an Atlantis it would not be m

The derailers should work fine, though I don't particularly like the aggressive looks of the new XTR shadow rear mech, and you can certainly spend a lot less without reducing performance. Check chainreactioncycles.com for NOS (new old stock) Shimano derailers (and hubs, etc.) at great prices. Shipp

IIRC, the 107 mm BB listed is an error. My Atlantis came from Riv with a 115 & the same crank you've got. When I replaced the BB, my measurements & research suggested a 110 would work. It did but just barely. I'd go 113 as a minimum. My crank has 175 arms and 24/36/46 rings. No comment on the
