ket is also important. Having things moving
around is generally not good. I use a net to keep things in place, tightening
it down as necessary.
If I had 45 lbs to haul I'd try for 15/15 in the rear in panniers and 10 up
front.

I have had front baskets set up the way yours is and yes, that's dicey. :-(

Silly me. Bob seems to be a very strong rider.
I had a great RAGBRAI and it was great setting folks.
Getting home is turning into a problem though...Flossie is hitting Hawaii and
I'm stuck overnight in LA. Going tomorrow through SFO, Kona, and finally
Honolulu. Wish I was in the Bay Area now
Have fun...I'll be on my green Bike Friday NWT going very slowly most of the
time. Would love to bring my Hunq but it's just too expensive to ship from
Honolulu.
Aloha!

Recently I ride the Haleiwa Metric Century on my Quickbeam with Albas and then
did a couple of 75-80 mile rides on my Hunqapillar with Albas. All three rides
included some climbing (actually not all that much on the HMC) and parts
heading into stiff tradewinds. It was all good and I was glad to
Welcome! You'll find a wealth of information and plenty of support around here,
I know I have.
That's a sweet looking bike and I love the M-bars. I had them on my Quickbeam
for years till I switched looks. They'll be going on another bike soon.

Someone has to do it. It's rough but I'm willing to take the hit so other folks
can live in better places. :-)
Aloha from Bob (who is gong to ride down Haleakala tomorrow - because someone
has to do it.)

In fact today I was running around on one bike getting bits and pieces for
another. Nothing was wrong though, just swapping cockpits out and putting in
new brake cable, etc.

Make sure you take pictures of your first ride (or do what some of us do and
take pictures of the whole darn process - I managed to get the UPS guy carrying
the box and it went on from there).

If you used the same tape I did it'll stick for quite some time as long as long
as a corner doesn't get lifted up. I've got some my Quickbeam fenders that have
been there for years. Good stuff.

got a lot of bright shiny things on when I ride at night so even if this
doesn't add much to mix I'm not particularly concerned, but if it helps, it

No photo but I did stop at the poll on my way home from work on my Hunqapillar.
As I was leaving another cyclist pulled up riding a 20+ year old Raleigh which
was still going strong.

I'll be at RAGBRAI but not on my Quickbeam. It's too expensive too ship bikes
to and from Hawaii so I'll be on my BikeFriday (which has actually been to Riv
in Walnut Creek) as it's just another piece of luggage. I don't know if I'd
want to do all those hills on without easy gear changing though
My QB has a 40/32 in front and the 16/19 in the rear. It also has a solo 22
back the which does come in handy when laden down with camping gear and facing
a couple of hills around here. In town I tend to run 40/19 because I can get
"off the line" faster in traffic. Once out on the open road it's

Your ride looked like a beaut. Mine was more urban, but it did take me around
Diamond Head which is always fun (if crowded); great view.

Anyone seen the Wikipedia image of the Bleriot memorial in Dover (where he

And I'll come down on the other side of the wide foot/Grip King debate. I've
