[RBW] Re: Recommendations on cycling to Rivendell and around San Francisco and the Bay Area

2019-09-16 Thread Randy Franks
There are a whole lot ways to do long and hilly rides, but for urban and (relatively) flat--but still experiencing a lot--here are my thoughts: Spend a couple days in SF. Make sure to go over the Golden Gate on at least one of them. Starting at the Ferry Building, go north on Embarcadero, to Be

"Only slight bummer is that the front top water bottle mount is useless on the size small frame because of the lower top tube." We have simple Minoura wire cages on our Small HHH. I can get a bottle in that front top spot, but only for storage. Can't remove or replace while in motion. Fortunate

Don't give up on the Clem L! My Pleasanton-based mother had a step thru Trek hybird that she was excited to get (moderate price point, good local shop), but ended up riding only begrudgingly after a couple years. Even with tune-ups and different tires, it just didn't "roll very well" in her wor

I used a heat gun on a set of handle bars a couple weeks ago, then finished off with Goo Gone. The Neubaums tape was on about two years. I can imagine the tube pressing onto a rim is going to really bond that adhesive to the metal, though. Good luck! -- You received this message because you ar

Conservation of energy, baby. The dyno is converting rotational energy (or angular kinetic energy) of the spinning wheel into electrical energy. And then your headlight is turning the electrical energy into light. Hook up a battery in place of the headlight, and you've got a regenerative brake.

You're in good company! Or, at least not the only mid-thirties guy here. I started un-racering a couple years after our kids were born (on average 6 years ago), felt bad about it the whole time, and then discovered Rivendell when I moved nearby in 2015. Put some albatross bars and practical gear

1. This weekend my wife and I are taking the inaugural spin on our newly-built HHH. Whatever's left in the build budget, plus a few extra bucks will go into this fundraiser. Beyond the raw awesomeness of the BTCC's mission, I am so excited to find a way to assuage the guilt of removing my name

This thread really deserves pictures of everybody's Bike Tetris achievements. As a fellow Odyssey owner, I think it'll be tight but that you can pull it off. We've managed similar (third bike was a 20" kids bike, though) and still used one seat in second row and one seat in the third row (for
