I was just measuring and analyzing my 2000 Curt for a 650b conversion. I
thought I might get a 42 in there but it would be tight. Thanks for the
thread, this is all very helpful.

I love mine. It's on a Raleigh One Way (53cm single-speed, albatross

clothes, food, etc. and use it for securing shopping runs. The One Way
has cantis. Centerpulls would be tricky because of that center

I do not know what a Quickbeam seatpost collar looks like but a
Pitlock works fine on a Heron if you stick some washers in the
recesses where the nut and bolt head rest. Please see my photostream
for details.

I like speedblends. They did not last for long in the 700c size
though. Luckily I bought mine when I could.

There was a time a few years ago that Target was selling them for $20
each. I missed that boat.

That Wooly Warm vest is the best piece of cycling clothing ever made.
My large only fits me well at my lean randonneur weight, so I would
buy one in XL if I could find one.

I didn't get any takers on this list for my Riv Road a few weeks ago.
The frame is on ebay now, it meets most of your requirements. It looks
really good, but you probably are ok with missing that one.

The touring pedals are fine for free pedaling too. I have Sneaker,
Touring, and Grip Kings. I like them all, and in that order. The width
and grip of the Sneakers make them number one. If the GKs were
grippier I would put them number two, but they can be slippery
depending on the shoe.

I'd recommend downtown SF as a first choice, since you can BART out to
Walnut Creek (Riv HQ) with a bike during commute hours, but not IN to
SF. See http://511.org for schedules, routes and such. Hotels will all
be pricey. SF also gives you the option to ride out over the Golden

down to shift like you would on a drop bar it feels like you are more

those on a bike too, and it does sit me up a lot more. I feel like I
go faster and have better control with the moustache though.

perfect. its not going to be perfect, and remember: perfect is the

standard binder bolts. To use something other
than a standard seatpost binder bolt I head over to Ace Hardware and
get whatever stainless steel washers make the replacement bolt work.

It's now SR SunTour see http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com for the
current line or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suntour for more history.
My Raleigh One Way has SunTour cranks (chainrings in SR parlance).

This looks great, thanks for the photos. I have a similar-era 700c
Rivendell that I am considering for a 650b conversion. I have not done
it yet but I still might this summer. Are the Tektros the only brakes
that are long enough to allow the conversion work?
Thanks!
