I think you need to update the original FS post with pics of the bike with
Nitto racks, the one you show only has a Pletscher rear. The new pics may
have the new pedals, too, but be aware that most folks have their own
favorites and may not be into a Shimano pedal if it's clipless.

This is a good reply and thank you for it. Practical. Patience is often a
powerful quality. I’m also now able to spell schlemiel. Thanks.

Another option is consignment, I went this route on a couple bikes that weren’t
selling through the usual channels and with patience I got quite close to what
I’d hoped.

Is there such a beast as a 26"-wheel Monocog? I thought they were all 700C.
Patrick Moore, who daydreams about a Clem with 3"-wide, 31"-tall WTB
Rangers*.
* Aside: That Matthews custom dirt road bike: I had it built for 700C X 60s
with fenders, and 650B X 75s. But it won't take 700C X 70 mm wide,
You have a nice bike, but to the average schlemiel browsing want ads it
doesn't fall into the high price (anything over ~$300) categories of road
bike or fulls suspension mountain bike. It looks (to said schlemiel) as if
it should sell for $300. You belong like the rest of us to a very peculiar

As someone who actually is shopping for a 26” wheeled Monocog I can tell you,
it would be easier for me to find a Rivendell to buy and turn into a
singlespeed mountain bike!

As much as I'd love a nice Platypus, I'm holding out for the Monocog

My Monocog is butt-ugly, and all my protestations otherwise were in
jest. It's a wonderful bike, and (IMO) "Rivendellian" in being simple,
steel, rugged, comfortable, and just plain fun for "riding around," but
it's purely utilitarian, and all its beauty is in the ride. For the sort of
riding it's

Pretty ironically, this thread inspired me to order up a Losco bar for my
Raleigh Twenty. That bike doesn't carry a front load, so I think they'll
work nice.

I'll be very interested to see a sea-foam Platypus juxtaposed with the
beautiful red of Leah's. We look forward to photos.

I called Rivendell today, Grant answered the phone and I expressed my
sincere desire to get a Platypus and my worry that I’d miss out. I asked
how I could make sure I got one and then this happened.he took my
credit card info right then and there for a frame of the size and color I
want.
Matching the cream to the decals makes a lot of sense.
Thank you

Kate, if you're friction curious, Riv has Microshift thumb shifters or
Shimano bar end shifters that can switch between friction and index. Then
you can try both and see which you prefer. I like friction front and rear
myself.
Joe, dig the reverse shifters. Gotta do what works for you.

Oops. My bad in assuming you were just touching up. As Joe pointed out,
the creme has varied depending on vintage, builder, painter etc. A coupe
of ideas if Riv can't answer to your satisfaction: 1) ask the painter to
match the creme on your specific decals, since that's what really matters.
HI Joe, Thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate your input as I am just
getting started and will have to make this decision for sure. I am only use to
rapid fire thumb shifters on my hybrid and brifters on my road bike. I don't
know anything about friction shifting so I'm not sure if thi

I should've been more clear in my OP. I'm not looking to mix up paint for
touch up. I'm looking for an actual color code or name that closely
matches the newer Taiwanese Riv frame head tubes. Has anyone had a frame
painted recently and got an acceptable cream?

I guess this is the modern version of what I experienced after going all in

for about a year and as I got serious, so did my concern for the fit o
