Seat tube angle on Viv’s Riv: The image most likely has a bit of distortion (it
was a quick iPhone pic). The actual angle is 73 degrees.

Ah, I see. I had an Electra version of old Dutch bikes (Amsterdam, also crazy
heavy), and it was the only non-recumbent I ever owned that I could reach the
ground on like in your pic.

You're not going to be able to do that with any standard geometry diamond
frame bike that fits you properly. If that's really a requirement you need
a semi-recumbent like a Rans. Or, alternatively, you could reconsider the
idea and learn how to dismount properly at a stop sign, one foot on the

Not sure about selling it, I'm sorting out my difficulty with touching a

As I walked the 2003 through the crowded aisles of the Corrales Sprout's

FWIW, if you can pedal mid-foot instead of on your toes you can lower the
saddle considerably, allowing at least one foot to tip toe on the ground
when stopped.
If not, many european and Dutch designed city bikes are designed for a one
foot touchdown. Here's a couple links that may spark your
Welcome, Cinzaw! As others have mentioned, it is difficult to get the saddle
low enough to do what you describe, at least that isn't built with slack angles

Unfortunately bikes really aren't designed for what you're trying to do. If you

to push your right foot down on the pedal and lever off the saddle as you reach
your left foot down to the road to stop.

Thank you Doug.
Yup, I want my toes (not whole foot) to touch the ground if I am on the
seat with a slight tilt towards the standing foot. (waiting at stop signs
and such instead of jumping off the bike) I found snugging the spanner
on my Brooks made getting off easier.
I love this bike
Thank you. I paid over 2711 from Rivendell, nice to know I might get it

Where do people sell such bikes?

Is Rivendell interested in collecting their old bikes?
Is there a good place to research sales for prices?

Hey cinzaw.
If I'm understanding what you wrote, you want to be able to touch both feet
to the ground while seated on the saddle? If that is what you're saying,
that is not really related to the bike fitting you or not. That saddle
height will also be far too low for efficient and safe pedaling,
