Riv doesn't do any torch work in-house, but adding water bottle braze ons
to a frame is not too expensive. Probably around $50 for a local
framebuilder to do it. Riv has a couple that they typically work with.

I think the chain is a 9 speed SRAM chain. So, it sounds like I'll just
need to avoid the "extreme" gear combinations which is easy enough to do.

That is exceedingly good, since their biggest problem as a business is
cashflow. Their Taiwan suppliers want their money up front. Now that
shipment 1 of the Clems is pre-sold, Riv should have the money on hand to
pay the supplier the moment the shipment is ready. That's great for them.

I've got some h'bars that have 5+ years of beausage & the h'bars with
barely 2 months of usage just ain't the same. A li'l shellac & some time &
they'll be great. Enjoy the sweat & goop that accumulates & (just a humble
suggestion) change when you change the bars, not a moment sooner!

I use zefal hpx frame pumps on a 60 cm cheviot and a double-toptube 62 cm
hillborne. Picking the cheviot up by the seat tube seems the more intuitive
spot due to the "top" tube being lower than where I tend to grab, so the

I no longer treat my Newbaums and really like the way it wears sweat, dirt,
and grime and still solid, soft, and grippy without being cushioned. Of
course, you could replace it, but that would be throwing away thousands of
miles of beausage. Grin.
