The allrounders were a semi custom bike at this time and could be
ordered with a varity of modifications like 700c instead of 26inches.
The standover is so high because of the combination of a already high
bottom bracket with 700c wheels. The main difference between this and

I picked up my S&S-ified Saluki from Steve Rex last week. Steve is right up
there with Bilenky in terms of quality and craftsmanship. I had Russ PIckett
retouch the frame, and it looks brand new again. That Rex is just down the
road from Chico was a bonus.
Now I get to take it to the PNW soon, and
I had my Bleriot frame retrofitted by Bilenky before I built it up. I
sprung for the wheeled hardcase, frame protectors, TSA net, and the
PVC compression prevention bits.
The bike has been to Europe twice, and flown domestically several
times. I have never been charged for it being a bike. Onc

I just don't see the need for the quick release gizmos, it only takes
a few moments to unhook a saddlebag and attach it again using the
regular saddle loops. I do like the Bagman, but have no use for the QR
version.

It's called "newskin service" and you specify regular or clydesdale, slotted or

I'm on my second Selle Anatomica. Mine is the Clydesdale version of the

You can get a Selle re-leathered for $75 which is a better deal I think than a
new saddle from V-O or Brooks.

I have various Brooks saddles (B17, B15, Flyer, B66), with the most
miles on the B17. As the B17 aged it developed a ridge down the
middle, which is exactly what I don't need and was very
uncomfortable. I have since soaked and re-shaped the B17, and it's
rideable again, but only as long as I kee

Thanks for the great story, and good example, Michael.
I happen to have 35mm Speedblend Panaracers on my Quickbeam...good
tires.
As I age, and hopefully grow wiser, my bikes have become less
specialized and more "well rounded." Taken to the exteme,
optimization can lead to a bike that is good a

I have an SA that I bought from Riv when they had those "used

comfortable, it came extended AL the way out, which was just a bit
too much for my special area. Plus, it looked really weird. I went
back to my Brooks pre-aged Flyer a

When you say "older" Robusto -- are you talking about the saddles that
S-A used to convert from Brooks? Or are you talking about their
current saddles that are made in Wisconsin and are not converted
Brooks?

I can't tell you how a slotted B17 will feel or how long it will

been the most comfortable saddles I have ever owned in 30+ years of

I have S-A Titanicos with slots on two of my bikes, and a Brooks B-67

like North Roads, but for bikes with more drop to the bars, I find the
S-A saddles more comfortable than either of the Brooks saddles (this

I disagree. The Carradice Bagman QR support works well, as does the other
device that clamps to the seatpost and has a small QR frame to which the bag

The Selle Anatomica is the most comfortable saddle I've tried. Much
better for my butt than the Brooks. I use the one without the cutout

good. The bad is they str

I wonder how many frames vs complete bikes they'll sell? I imagine a
fair %age of buyers will want to build the Roadie up to their own
spec. I think I'd probably do Dura Ace 7800 as there are some nice
bargains on it now.

Sway should not be an issue with any saddle bag as long as you attach
it to the saddle correctly. Do not us the method shown on the Riv site

I don't know about the Titanico but you could try a Brooks Imperial.
