I'm looking for some great 25 x 1.5 inch tires. I'd ride the paselas
but I really want an all black tire. I was going to go w/ marathon
racers, but would love another suggestion. I'm riding t-servs in

This is such a fun ride! If you're anywhere near the area (I'm not,
unfortunately, this week), it's worth it!

Join us tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5pm for our weekly Rough Rider Ramble
in La Jolla! Any mountain bike, CX bike, or fat-tired road bike will
do, but Rivendells get special style points and front row parking at
the tea house. We do this ride every Wednesday, but come tomorrow if
you're in the area! I
Hey - I've seen your bike zip around Chelsea Piers. I've got a '92
Bridgestone X0-2 with Nitto Rack, Brooks seat, cork hand grips, and
baggins bag.. say hello if you pass me.
I've spotted some Riv gear on the hudson path - a new sackville bag..
Also some Velo Orange stuff as well.

This route was a combination of three 200k's. There were so many
appealing camping spots. At about mile 337 three of us were rolling
along this back road next to the Deschutes River and we were all
saying "Why aren't we rafting? That looks so much more pleasant."
I would never do this route again
I could slay that route in under a week. Probably.

Weinmann centerpulls were also used by Rene Herse on his finest

My Paramount P-15 was originally equipped with "Schwinn Approved"
centerpull brakes that were obviously made by Weinmann (they were
essentially the Vainqueur 999 model). I never experienced any
problems with braking on that bike with centerpulls, I switched to a
retrofitted set of Campy Record s
I've installed those brakes on a mid-80's Bianchi with 27-1/4 tires.
As you wrote, there is a lot of metal showing. But the brakes work
fine and in my opinion are attractive.

Don't forget that the Tilley has a lifetime warranty.
And they really will replace it hassle free.
The problem with the filson is that you can't wash it
all that well, not so bad in the rainy winter,
but funky in the summer sun.

contact me off list, I can set you up with a great route out of

There's the Pinehurst and Redwood Road loop. There are many ways to
approach it, depending on your starting point. Here is one version
someone put up on MapMyRide with a start in Berkeley:

Yea the "bumpiness" can be felt when using unlined housing. Or when the
lining in better cable wears through. I'd be more inclined to suspect the
housing more than the cable itself. But while you're at it might as well
replace the cables too. I like the Shimano cable and housing best. Or if

IMO the Paselas are by far and away the better quality tire. I run
them exclusively on my commuter. The non-TG version is, I believe,
even nicer, but for commuting I need the flat protection. BQ did
their own version of rolling resistance, and if I remember correctly
the Pasela came in only sli
I always make a point of getting control cables that are drawn smooth
through a die. I believe the ones I am using now are SRAM.
