what kind of graphics card? Do you set any settings (e.g. in your pymolrc)? How
do you change the background color (menu, command, setting)?

as I wrote yesterday (reply to Engin's first message), the sequence
viewer background issue is fixed in the latest open-source code. The
problem appeared in version 1.6.0.0, no earlier version should be affected.

background color to 'white' the background of the alternative command
text window (ESC key) remains black and text is not visible).
