and "clé d'abonnement" does not sound great to me, but I do not have
better to suggest right now...

I don't have opinion about which one to choose, some company use
"abonnement" term, or "souscription" term.
Maybe "souscription" is more used for a contract vs "abonnement" more
used for a product
