We have a bunch of problems people regularly run into with node inheritance,
and it's something we'd like to find a better solution for.
Is anyone using node inheritance and happy with how it works? If so, can you

Example:
exec { "apt-get update":

This would run every time, and you'd get interactive output about it, but
the resource itself would not end up in the subsequent report.

In an ideal world you could run a command as simple as "facter -p" to get
access to all of these variables, but not all make
hey pull in a huge amount of dependencies, like X libs, cups, etc
etc on a bunch of platforms, so some people don't have them available.

Does that help?
I noticed you used the word "import". The most frictionless way to use

You want to use $zmfs::settings::l_dir
You're fully qualifying the variable, so you need the "full path" to it,
including the name of the module it lives in.
